Device Web Services

With the implementation of our Device Manager under our belt, we released a core set of Device Web Services in 2001 (see "Core Web Services" below).  It's not the actual services that are important here... it's that our product gives you the ability to build and integrate services into your devices.

Core Web Services

Instead of re-inventing the wheel for deploying services to broadband devices, Point Clark Networks has developed a set of services that can deployed right out of the box.  Along with the Dynamic DNS, provisioning and software updates provided by the Device Manager product, our Core Device Web Services include:

Resource Monitoring to pre-empt potential hardware and software issues.
Port Monitoring to keep track of network issues and quality of service.
DNS Services to personalize and manage domain names.
Managed VPN to connect to end devices with a simple point and click.
Security Audits to protect a device from the sometimes hostile Internet.
Antivirus and Antispam to protect networks from unwanted intrusions.
Content Filter Updates to keep block lists up-to-date.

We do not build the engines for all of these services (for instance, we are not a content filtering company), but instead provide the glue to create, build, deploy and bill for such service.  Once up and running, end users will be able to add, delete and manage device-based services from an easy-to-use web site.

API

You can not only use our core set of services right out of the box, but also develop new subscription services using our development framework.  A Java/J2EE API is available to make it quick and easy to integrate Device Web Services.  Through a SOAP-based Web Services framework, the upcoming version will support many other software development languages.
